Book for April 2025-March 2026 here
Are you ready to check out of society for a little while, to experience a life closer to nature, to yourself and to those you love?
Good to know - in short:
From April 2025 you can visit Stedsans every day.
A stay at Stedsans always includes all meals during your stay.
Our award-winning cabins are set with a strict less-is-more philosophy, designed to let guests feel connected to the surrounded forest, that you can read more about here. They do not have heat or electricity, but we have alternative ways to make guests stay nice and warm that you can read about here.
NB. There is a weird error on the page. If you don’t find the booking link, please refresh the page and it should occur. We fix it as soon as we can.

What to expect
You arrive in the afternoon to a heated sauna by the lake. We serve you a cold drink or a cup of tea from our plant medicine garden (or a really good cup of coffee).
While you enjoy the forest, we light the fires and harvest the last ingredients for a dinner cooked on the very best our gardens, the forest and a few carefully selected local suppliers have to offer. We make drinks on medicinal plants for those who don’t drink wine and for those who do, we open some of our favourite natural wines.
The night ends around the fire by the lake before it’s time to go to rest in your cabin set with organic linen and natural materials only. In the cabins we use point heat, meaning the bed is warm while the room is not for a more natural sleep experience - just the way human beings have been sleeping since the beginning of time.
The next morning we light up the sauna again, and serve you a delicious breakfast, again featuring the best of what we have around us.
Stedsans is ‘just’ a very good dinner or romantic get-away. But if you are open to it, it’s also an initiation and a glimpse into a life more in sync with nature and a non-harmful way of walking on Mother Earth.
Lower prices - same super-high quality and integrity
For our 9th season in the forest, we lowered the prices in order for more people to be able to visit us and stay for longer. We have therefore changed the concept slightly (basically we just took a dish or two away on the dinner some days). You can still expect the same high quality and super delicious food as we have always delivered.
Of course all food is still made over fire and on the very best ingredients provided by local, organic small-scale producers, our farm or the forest.
In the weekdays, Sunday-Thursday, we serve you a 3-course dinner with a new theme every day.
On Fridays and Saturdays we serve some of our most loved signature dishes, put together in a 4-course meal each day.
Another add-on this season is that we decided to offer our homemade herbal drinks and kombuchas an integrated part of the package instead of wine. We still offer wine menus/wines paired with each dish. We also have a really good little list of natural wines from our favorite producers, that is offered on site.
Cabins with a view to the stars
Our cabins are designed, built and decorated with a strict less-is-more philosophy. Only the very essentials necessary for a person to feel good is provided: A comfortable king-size bed with a merino wool mattress, cashmere blankets, hot water bottles and much more for cold nights.
The cabins are built in local, slow-growing fir - a type of wood that does not require treatment to stay healthy for many years. They all have a floor-to-ceiling window allowing for guests to feel how they are a part of the surrounding forest.
‘Probably the best located sauna in the World’
Our sauna is placed on the lake, and is a wonderful place to spend a few hours, no matter the weather. Unlimited sauna-time is always included in a stay with us.
In the summertime we also offer canoes and SUP’s, and we have our sawdust-heated, lake-water outdoor shower open - also placed right on the lake.
A truly sustainable vacation
A stay at Stedsans is all about connection - to yourself, the people you are with, and with the surrounding nature. We have designed an experience that allows you to spend a holiday with your well-being in focus, while leaving a positive footprint after you.
Our aim has always been to suggest a way of life that does not harm. We believe that all lifeforms can co-exist on this planet if only we set the intention. This is what Stedsans is all about showing - offering a truly sustainable and still luxurious experience of nature-connection and amazing food.
We made it easier for families to visit us!
From this season we are making it easier for families to visit us - you just pay a small fee for little family members, all cabins can have an extra kids’ bed added and we have made tent-spots outside of some of the cabins.
Our food is simple and kid-friendly - the whole family can eat the same without compromising on the quality of the food.
We are a family with 4 children and we know how challenging it can be to find a place to spend a holiday where all family members - including mom and dad - feel truly good, connected, alive and well-nourished. We believe Stedsans is that option.
Who are we and why did we create Stedsans?
Stedsans was founded by Flemming and Mette, two Danish chefs from Copenhagen, in 2015, at first as a small restaurant on a rooftop farm. In 2017 Stedsans moved from the city and into the wild woods of Sweden. The idea has always been to explore and show a softer way of walking on Earth - one where no lifeform is harmed uneccesarily. We believe that this is a possible future scenario for our planet, and we want to give our guests the feeling that this solution is also one that feels, looks and tastes good!
What does our guests and the press say about the experience?
We have VERY happy guests! Althoug we are not very good at updating it, you can read some snippets from our guest book here.
Stedsans has also been featured in countless food- and travel magazines, books and TV-shows. Here are a few clippings from the press:

New this season: Book the forest cottage
This season you can book our cottage by the entrance to the forest. It’s a bit more of a ‘normal’ option, a simple house with heat, electricity, own bathroom and kitchen. It also has a fireplace, a little garden, and sleeps up to 6 people (but 2 people on a romantic get-away will have all they need in the cottage). The cottage is no design-statement, but super cosy.
