-FAQ’S - Before your stay-

Stedsans is in a real forest with branches to stumble over, uneven terrain and all types of weather. We try to hit the perfect balance of reality and the modern world, but be prepared.

Arriving to Stedsans

When you arrive, please park your car in our parking lot and follow the signs by the little path down in the forest. After a few minutes trek you will get to the forest trail leading to the boathouse. Here we will meet you and tell you which cabin you are in.

If you are disabled or have a lot to carry you are welcome to drive your car down in the forest. In this case you drive to the ‘private’ sign to the left a bit further up the road than the parking lot. This will lead to a narrow forest road where normal cars can drive carefully. At cabin 3 we have a parking space for disabled people, but we prefer you park your car in the parking lot after unloading.

Check-in

Check-in is between 3 and 5 pm (in winter between 2 and 4 pm - try to be here before it gets dark)
.

Check-out

Check out is usually at 12, but may be at 10 on days when we have new guests arriving. The forest + sauna is always at your disposal until 12.

Follow the signs from the parking lot.

The best season for a visit

Honestly, we love every season. Spring, when the leaves are bright green, the long summer days, autumn with amazing ingredients and a forest in all colours and winters with ice on the lake (when it’s there) and a trillion stars.

Use of the sauna and boats

The sauna is warm from around 8 and can be heated up anytime. You are welcome to use our canoes and our SUP’s (only in summertime).

Children or extra person in a cabin (weekends)

Children are welcome and normally very happy in the woods. Babies are welcome with no extra costs, but please write in comments on the order if you want a baby crib in the cabin - otherwise we assume your child will sleep in your bed. We have 2 cabins with a children’s bed. You simply go through the normal booking process. Click on the link underneath the text ‘More people travelling together?’. Click on ‘Select date or option’ and choose the given date and ‘cabin 3 or 6’.

We have one cabin that can host an extra bed for an adult. You simply choose the date you want to come and then click the link under ‘More people travelling together?’. Next, you click on ‘Select date or option’. Here you choose the given date and cabin 8.

How to get to Stedsans by public transportation

The nearest airports are Copenhagen, Malmö/Sturup, Växjö, Halmstad and Gothenburg.
All are within about 1,5-2,5 hours drive from Bohult by car.

The nearest large train station is Halmstad if you arrive from the West Coast or Copenhagen. From Stockholm the nearest train station is Alvesta. Go to sj.se to plan your trip.

Bus 400 leaves from Halmstad to Hyltebruk every hour. You can check the schedule on Hallandstrafiken (they also have an app where you can buy tickets).

Since we are pretty far out in the countryside, taxis are very unreliable. Please contact us a few days before arrival, then we will pick you up in Hyltebruk.

Helicopters

Helicopters can land in our neighbor’s sheep field. Ask us in advance for this option, so he can lock up the animals first.

Mosquitos

Actually mosquitos are not a very big problem in the forest. However, they are around at sunset during summertime, as are the little annoying knots. We provide our own all-natural mosquito repellant for you. The mosquitos don’t usually find their way into the cabins or restaurant.

What to bring

Bring outdoor wear + shoes according to the weather. Expect to spend a lot of time outside. The summer-restaurant is semi outdoor ie. you will be dry and in shelter, and the winter-restaurant is heated.

In the cabins only the beds are heated. We have plenty of blankets, hot water bottles etc., but woolen underwear is really nice as a baselayer when it’s cold.

- A power bank is not a bad idea. You can also charge your gear at the kitchens.

- Swimwear

- A flashlight is nice to have at night, especially in the dark months from late september to early April - around the new moon it’s usually a must

- Anti-hestamine etc. if you are allergic (not relevant in winter)

- If you are a light sleeper, a sleep mask may be a good idea, as our curtains let the light and view to the stars (and sun) in

- Sports clothes if you want to use our forest gym, do yoga, have a run etc.

Don’t bring

- As all of our water is recycled and/or returned back to the source, it is very important that we keep it clean. Therefore, we provide soaps and shampoo.

- Please don't bring your best clothes as there is a chance they will get dirty and you will get cold.

- We provide towels, toiletries and all bed linen (unless you bring your own tent).

Special diets & allergies

We don’t need to know about your food allergies or special diets before arrival unless they are unusual. We would rather talk to you in person when you are here. Due to our remote location, we don't recommend guests with fatal food allergies to visit us. The hospital is one hour away.

Our food is fresh, clean and simple, and easily adjusted to the most common allergies/intolerances.

Electric cars

The nearest fast-charging station is at Coop in Hyltebruk, a 15 minute drive from Bohult. We do have some options for charging cars but it’s not always reliable.
