Stedsans 2025 and beyond: The beginning of a new chapter

A personal note from Flemming and Mette: We have decide to finish our life’s work here in Bohult. We even decided to level up our dreams. Read our story and get a sneak-peek of Stedsans version 2.0 below.

The decision to give up on our dreams here in Bohult came suddenly, from one day to the next, after too many years of working in a way that no longer felt satisfying. We spoke about this decision on instagram and to several members of the press in spring as we were 100% certain: We felt that we had come as far as we could here. We did not finish what we set out to do, but we came a very long way. Almost as sudden did it feel on the day when we both, at the same time, realized we were not after all done here. In between was a spring and summer full of growth and new insights.

The death proces of letting something go that you have invested a lot of love and hope in

As passionate people and lifelong entrepreneurs we are used to killing darlings, but this one felt like a really big one. We had to let go of Stedsans to make room for all the things we also wanted to do, but that kept being postponed. We had to create the blank canvas that makes creation of something entirely new possible.

The night we made the decision to let Stedsans go

We made the decision overnight (but felt into it for a few months before telling our kids and the rest of the world). We could both feel a strong pull towards living somewhere else than in Bohult. While this forest has delivered so many unforgettable moments and daily makes our hearts skip a beat with it’s beauty - there had also been a lot of misery. Too much struggle with bureaucracy, finances, narcissism and other of the more challenging sides of being a soul entrepreneur. We were worn out and needed to give us and our kids some of the time back that we had spent overworking ourselves to make this bumblebee of a project come to life.

We needed - and still need - to breathe really deep and to give ourselves time to heal some of the very deep wounds we got in the battle for a better future. We needed to step back from the frontline of the battle for a more beautiful world for a while.

The ‘last summer’ in Bohult

We decided to make this our BEST summer ever here in Bohult, and we succeeded. Nature did it’s part, the amazing team we have around us did theirs. And we had so much fun, created our most beautiful meals ever, we swam in the lake and danced around to loud music in the kitchen. We had friends over for the first time in years. The sun has been shining all the way into late September.

On the side we were grieving the loss it is to let go of something you really love. There were so many ‘lasts’ this summer - or so we thought.

The events that led to our decision to stay

The summer was also one of countless viewings to potential buyers, emails back and forth, meetings and negotiations. Over 100 sales prospects were send out. There was a lot of interest and several offers on taking over the business, but none of them felt like the right one. We had our minds set on finding a solution that felt just right for us, the business, the team and the forest. Then came an email, then another one, from people suggesting alternative solutions: A setup where the place could be run by us but in collaboration with other people. One thing led to the next and now we are - much to everyone’s surprise, not least our own - at a place where we decided to keep our baby Stedsans.

We recognized that what has been so draining this whole time has been doing things alone. We will - after all - finish what we set out to do - but as they say in the Hopi prophecy - the time of the lonely wolf is over (see the prophecy below). Right now we are gathering a group of likeminded souls around us who can help lift this project to a whole new level. What we are dreaming up now is big, bold and even more beautiful than ever before.

Stedsans 2.0 will be launched in spring 2025

A lot of puzzle pieces still have to fall into place, plans have to made, the last members of the team has to be found and money has to be raised. As always in entrepreneurship it’s a good mix of exciting and scary. We can’t wait to tell much more, but for now this is what we can reveal about Stedsans version 2.0 that will launch in spring 2025:

  • the prices will be lower and we will have more opening days

  • the style of food will be the same high quality and based on the same strict premises, but in a more informal version

  • there will be more room for retreats and conferences - we aim to create a hub for the lifestyle of the future (which is a dream we have carried since the beginning)

  • there will be more activities and options for people like us - families with lots of kids and couples on a romantic get-away with a beating heart for good food, high quality design and true sustainability. People who love the combination of true nature and luxury.

Until then, Stedsans runs like normal (almost)

We just opened up for winter bookings (starting from week 43). We adjusted the concept to make room for us to take a good, long, well-deserved holiday while our staff can keep their jobs. This feels like a really good solution. We will serve the same good, simple food as usual, but with a few less dishes - and lower prices.

We hope that many will want to experience the magic that Stedsans is also in the cold months.

The Hopi prophecy: We are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For

You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered…

Where are you living?

What are you doing?

What are your relationships?

Are you in right relation?

Where is your water?

Know your garden.

It is time to speak your truth.

Create your community.

Be good to each other.

And do not look outside yourself for your leader.

Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.

And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.

The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
